About 200 kilometers of track are to be electrified in Ukraine by the end of 2011. State railways administration Ukrzaliznytsia is to carry the electrification of 95 kilometers of track on the Poltava-Kremenchuk-Burty line and 176 kilometers on the Poltava-Krasnohrad-Lozova line.
« In the first half of 2011 some 3,726 railway poles, 1,304 bases, 442 anchors, 829 consoles and 760 brackets were installed, and a high-voltage line of 10 kV with a length of 22 kilometers was constructed on the Poltava-Kremenchuk route to electrify this section of track, » a press release by Ukrzaliznytsia reads.
The Ukrainian railway network ranks third in length in Europe, as it spreads over more than 21,7 thousand kilometers. The share of electric traction exceeds 89,7% of the railroads. On average, the operational length of electrified track amounts to 45% of their operational length.
